UPCOMING EVENTS
DEBORAH KELLY'S exciting new book SKIN will be released on April 2nd. 'When a tiny freckle on Lexie Collins's cheek turns out to be a rare kind of melanoma that requires surgery, she is left with a big, ugly scar across one cheek. She had just earned a spot in the state finals for public speaking, but with the scar, her confidence has vanished. She doesn't even recognise herself anymore. Lexie suddenly feels ugly, unsure of herself and different from all her friends. But when a chance encounter turns into an unexpected friendship, Lexie's feelings about her scar-and herself-slowly begin to change.' SKIN is published by Wombat's Rhiza Press.
Deb's book launch is on Saturday May 17 at 12:30pm at the Windale Library Hub. Tickets available through Eventbrite https://bit.ly/446mE1f

CBCA Shadow Judging Information Evening

What is Shadow Judging?
Shadow Judging is a programme initiated by the Children's Book Council of Australia where young voices join in the conversation about the CBCA's annual Book of the Year Shortlist. Participating schools create a group of 'shadowers' - readers who engage with the shortlisted books in a category of their choosing. The students discuss the books together using the same criteria as the CBCA book judges. They then decide who they think will be the winner.
Interested in participating? Want to find out more?
Interested adults, classroom teachers, teacher librarians and public librarians are invited to come along and hear shadow judging specialist Gail Erskine speak about this exciting programme and how you can take on the role of group facilitator to support young voices in participating.
